The hype train for Undisputed, the latest boxing game from Steel City Interactive, has hit a snag. Gamers eagerly anticipated its first big update, but it turns out that we’re counting down the days to mid-December instead. Yes, you heard that right. The game’s launch has been plagued with issues such as power punch spam and severe desync problems that hinder the online experience, leaving fans feeling, well, quite a bit disappointed.
Despite being in Steam Early Access for almost two years, the wait for a polished release turned out to be a letdown for many players. After its debut on October 11 and October 8 for the Deluxe Edition, Undisputed was marketed as the most authentic boxing experience to date. However, the excitement quickly fizzled as players found themselves dodging not only punches but also a fair bit of frustration. The ranked mode became a battleground for those spamming overpowered punches a wholly unbalanced nightmare that made online fights feel more like a chore than the adrenaline-pumping excitement fans expect.

What’s at Stake in Mid-December
Steel City Interactive has acknowledged these critical issues, pledging that the December update will include fixes for a laundry list of problems. According to the developers, the delay allows them to “properly test and refine” the patch. But some players aren’t buying it. On social media, one gamer vented, “December is crazy after I just paid $80,” while another chimed in with, “I’m sorry that’s not acceptable for a game you charged me £65 for.” It seems that patient players are now running out of patience.
This currently unplayable experience stems from multiple bugs, especially the infamous desync that robs players of their boxing prowess. Other issues include power punches breaking through blocks and characters like Deontay Wilder feeling overly buffed. The developers have also noted plans for future updates, focusing on improving blocking mechanics and enhancing career modes. However, that’s still a long way off for a title that originally launched with so much promise.
Future of Boxing Games: The Road Ahead
As players of Undisputed hold their breath for fixes come December, the competitive boxing gaming scene might be on the verge of a significant change. Rumors are swirling that EA is keeping a close watch on the success (or lack thereof) of Undisputed, considering a comeback for the classic Fight Night franchise. It’s been over a decade since the last installment, but with renewed interest thanks to recent releases, could we soon see a new contender stepping into the ring?
In the meantime, Steel City Interactive continues to work on creating a more stable online environment for all fighters. With the first update on the horizon, here’s hoping that the studio can turn the tide before the gaming community decides to throw in the towel.
